Facilities

Nature is a huge part of Castara’s appeal and the hotel is set in two acres of tropical gardens which offer excellent opportunities for bird and wildlife watching. The beach is just a few minutes’ walk away down a winding footpath and is a great spot for swimming, sunbathing or just getting to know the friendly locals. Castara Bay has a wonderful reef, teeming with life and colour, and the snorkelling here is particularly enjoyable. Yoga classes and massage treatments are available on request and for those wanting to get out and about to explore the island, a wide variety of activities can be arranged, such as rainforest walks, bird watching, island tours and boat trips.

Important Information

The accommodation at Castara is located on a hillside and is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties. There is a small fee, payable locally, for the rental of sun loungers on the beach. The nearest reliable cash machine is in Scarborough, 45 minutes from Castara - whilst credit cards are accepted at the hotel, guests are advised to travel with sufficient cash for the duration of their stay.

Fiona's View

OUR Tobago SPECIALIST

If you’re seeking an authentic Caribbean experience, you needn’t look further than Castara Retreats - supporting the local community is an important part of the hotel ethos and guests are encouraged to visit the bars and restaurants in the village and get to know the friendly locals

Castara provides a tranquil refuge for both humans and wildlife - the surrounding area is home to more than 200 species of birds, including boobies, frigate birds and osprey

Each of Castara’s apartments and lodges has a unique appeal, but we particularly like the one bedroom Beachscape - it’s one of the closest accommodations to the beach and has fantastic views of Castara Bay from its private terrace

Blue Waters Resort & Spa

Antigua

There’s a wonderful laid back Caribbean vibe at Blue Waters and our clients love the charming and friendly service.

Bartley’s restaurant and Veronica’s poolside bar are both named after long serving members of staff - Mrs Bartley has been a housekeeper at Blue Waters for over 50 years!

If you’ve ever struggled to read a menu in the candlelit ambience of a fine dining restaurant, you’ll love the illuminated menus at the Cove - such a simple idea but utterly genius!
