There are 539 spacious suites divided into three distinct areas - the family-friendly Ambassador section which is set around the the main infinity pool and beach, and close to the Kids ’ and Teens’ Clubs; the beachfront Grand Class section for adults and teenagers aged 16 yrs and above; and the secluded and atmospheric Zen Jungle section which, as its name suggests, is set back from the beach surrounded by lush tropical foliage and accommodates both couples and families. All accommodation is decorated in a contemporary Mexican style and equipped to a high standard with a flat screen TV, CD/DVD player, complimentary WiFi, whirlpool bath, mini bar and a private terrace or balcony with ocean or jungle views. Many also have a private plunge pool, including all 90 suites in the Grand Class section of the resort. Interconnecting suites are available for families.

Restaurants And Bars

With 8 restaurants and 9 bars to choose from, you could stay a week at Grand Velas without eating dinner at the same place twice. Highlights here include the sparkling adults only Piaf, decked out with Swarovski crystals and serving sophisticated French cuisine, and the family-friendly gourmet Mexican menu at Frida, which has a lovely ocean view terrace and regular live music. Other options range from pan- Asian to rustic Italian, and drinking venues include the rooftop Sky Bar and even a karaoke bar!

Facilities

All three areas of the resort have their own infinity pool, and there is an impressive array of land and watersports included. Other facilities include a fitness centre, an indulgent jungle spa with no less than 40 treatment suites, and activities including yoga, zumba, Pilates and Tai Chi. There are also several golf courses nearby. The Grand Velas Kids’ Club for children aged 4-12 yrs offers everything from Xbox and Wii games to storytelling and movie nights, while the Teens’ Club for 13-18 yrs has a pool table, board games, karaoke and a non-alcoholic bar.
